Show Cause: Food Insecurity Across the U.S.
By John Reed | 11.17.2025
When our communities struggle with hunger, especially during the Thanksgiving season, we have to step up to help, however we can.
Because of SNAP benefits being halted for 42 million Americans during the recent extended federal government shutdown, as well as rising prices and tariff uncertainty, families around us are in crisis. Although the government reopened, it may take time for benefits to reach all who depend on them, and there’s no end in sight to the economic pressures. Consequently, food banks in communities nationwide have been stretched to their limits to keep Americans fed.
The Rain team is spread across the U.S., but we are unified in our far-reaching concern over food insecurity in this country. This month, our “Show Cause” initiative prioritizes local food pantry donations. From Massachusetts to Oregon, we donated to food banks that serve the communities where we live, including:
- Greater Fall River Community Food Pantry, Fall River, Mass.
- Gleaners Community Food Bank, Detroit, Mich.
- Saline Area Social Services, Saline, Mich.
- The Friendship Center, Chicago, Ill.
- Common Pantry Food Bank, Chicago, Ill.
- Feeding Kentucky, Frankfort, Ky.
- Oregon Food Bank, Portland, Ore.
We encourage you to support food banks, soup kitchens, community pantries, and other organizations helping to keep people and families fed. Every dollar (and mouthful) counts.
