Show Cause for Ukraine: Rain BDM Supports the International Rescue Committee
- BY Rain BDM
When Rain launched its Show Cause community involvement program three years ago, we had a different vision. We thought Show Cause would be a vehicle to support local nonprofits’ good works through donations and volunteering.
A pandemic and an unprovoked war caused us to pivot, expanding the Show Cause scope from down the street to around the world. Our community is now global.
When news broke of Russia’s unwarranted invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, we decided to commit a portion of our monthly profits to organizations providing food, shelter, and other relief to the Ukrainian people, including those forced to leave their country and those who’ve chosen to stay.
One of those organizations is the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which works in Ukraine and more than 40 other countries worldwide to assist individuals impacted by serious humanitarian crises, helping them survive, recover, and rebuild their lives.
IRC responds to the world’s most difficult and often desperate crises through:
- Serving people whose lives are upended by war, conflict, and natural disasters.
- Working in countries where people don’t have the support they need to recover from catastrophe.
- Responding within days when and where people don’t have the resources they need to recover from disaster.
- Resettling refugees welcomed to the U.S. by helping them assimilate, succeed, and thrive in their new lives.
As the wave of refugees continues, IRC is there for Ukrainians, helping restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and hope.
